Humorous (yet worrying) Animation about Mormon Beliefs

Our very own pastor was raised a Mormon and can verify that the information in this animation is an accurate portrayal of Mormon beliefs, although some of it is kept secret from their members until they reach a certain level of Mormonism.

Visit of Chris Wright

Every now and again some of the graduates who spent many years with us while they were at university, drop in and tell us how they’re doing. It’s especially good when some of them recognise a special calling on their lives.

Chris (2002-2006, including his year working in Germany) has spent the last year finding his feet. He was offered a very good and well paid secular job while he was in Australia! But he didn’t accept it because he believes that God is calling him into full time ministry. He’ll spend some time in the UK now while he looks for a Bible College to study at.

Pray for Chris, that God’s guidance will be clear to him.

The Dedication of Matthew Thomas Barton

James and Vicky Barton brought their son Matthew for dedication to the Lord, on Sunday. Many of their friends and family turned out for this happy occasion which was followed by a lovely buffet at Huntington Community Centre. We pray God’s blessing on them as family.

BBQ at St Laurence’s

Just because Fraisthorpe Camp was cancelled that didn’t stop us having our customary middle weekend BBQ! It was held a bit nearer to home on this occasion though, in the gardens of St Laurence’s. St Laurence’s is destined to be our new church home, and currently our office is based there, so we invited the congregation of St Laurence’s to join us. Our invitation was warmly accepted by many of them and it turned out to be a very nice afternoon indeed.

Prophetic Ministry in Oman

A Christian predicted the Oman floods through “prophecy” the gift (ability given) of the Holy Spirit.

I have had more news about these extraordinary events in Oman and Cyclone Gonu through Saji, one of our church members.

Informed Consent: Abortion Bill voted out

Some 182 MPs voted against and 107 in favour of backbencher Ann Winterton’s 10-minute-rule bill Termination of Pregnancy (Counselling and Miscellaneous Provisions) in the House of Commons on Tuesday 5th June.

See TheMorningFlight.com for full article and extract from Ann Winterton’s speech.

Abortion Bill

Abortion Bill, June 5th, 2007. Write to your MP without delay urging support.

Ann Winterton MP – supported by Labour, Lib-Dem and Conservative MPs – will be introducing a Bill on Tuesday, June 5th.

The aim is to ensure that women receive proper counselling warning them of possible dangers to their physical and mental health, informing them of alternative help available, and providing them with a delay of seven days before making a final decision.

The Bill will also require doctors to state on the notification forms whether the abortion was carried out on physical OR on mental grounds (instead of grouping the two together as at present and thus obscuring the real reasons for the abortion).

Please write to your MP at the House of Commons, Westminster, London, SW1A 0AA. Or you can telephone him/her at 020 7219 3000. Ask for your MP (by name) or his/her secretary. Give your name and address to show that you are a constituent. Alternatively, you can find out who your MP is and email them at www.writetothem.com

Urge the MP to attend the debate on Tuesday, June 5th and to vote in support of the Bill.
